GLIM POP UP AT LAPSTONE & HAMMER
Next Saturday, July 8th, Lapstone shines the spotlight on one of our very own for special pop up with fashion designer and musician Glim. Glim is the alter ego of Lapstone team member, Trenton Calloway, who's been a valued member of our staff for some time now. And like all of our team members, he is a talented artist and creator and we are excited to support him by featuring his designs in our store. The pop up kicks off with an opening night event on Saturday July 8th with an open bar and a DJ set by @albnopnda. Read through for more info...
Glim is more than just a brand. In 2019, Glim released his first single under the moniker and did a small run of tees to promote it. The shirts were the first physical element to the visual and sonic projects that Glim was already making. He quickly became engrossed in the idea of world building, and clothing he created became something much more than just merchandise, it was an extension of his music and persona. Glim represents a mindset and lifestyle dedicated to expressing the feelings and thoughts that we have been conditioned to bottle up - Glim is the release. Step into the Glimmerverse where you can be your truest self.
The Glim Pop Up at Lapstone & Hammer will feature “Butter Faces,” the 4th apparel collection from Glim. It contains 9 pieces, including two collaboritive pieces designed with Lapstone: short and long sleeve tees, tote, pants, shorts, and the Glim x LH Camp shirt and Glim x LH Trucker hat - the largest range of items from the designer so far. The imagery throughout the collection is very bold and the message is clear: Burn the things that separate and confuse us and embrace our uniqueness. The title is a playful twist on the phrase, tying into the artist's “glim butter” theme as well as the mask style print inside each t shirt.
Item descriptions / Concepts -
- The imagery is very intentional, with half of the pieces displaying a red orb, while the other half displays a blue orb. The red represents what we need to burn and the blue represents a brighter future.
- Two of the items in the collection are collaborative pieces between glim and Lapstone and Hammer - the camp shirt and the trucker hat, both of which include the blue orb and the Lapstone Medallion logo that is reminiscent of a sigil or hex sign, which also plays into Glim's reoccurring magical/spiritual themes.
- Each shirt has 4 total full size prints: front and back, the inside front features a face printed on it, so when you flip the shirt over your face it becomes a mask, and the inside back.
- The pants and shorts match the Lapstone collab pieces, with teals and greens throughout. The pants feature a castle on the left ankle, which is a graphic done by artist “fck.you” brought back from the first glim collection. The shorts feature a glim spell out that is hand drawn by artist “Julia Renegade Angel”.
- The tote bag dons the same prints as the purple t shirt - a large print of a familiar cat face, and on the flip side the undeniably true quote “it’s not easy being a human being”.
