With Air Max Day now an official universal holiday, 2018 was by far the biggest celebration since its inception in 2014. As Nike Air has always embodied the endless desire to dream, imagine, innovate and create, 2018 continued to push that to new heights with the release of the Nike Air Max 1/97 SW. The shoe was created by Sean Wotherspoon, co-owner of vintage/consignment shop Round Two in Richmond and Los Angeles and lifelong Air Max fan, who brought together an Air Max 97 upper and the iconic Air Max 1 midsole and outsole in an amazing multi-color design that was inspired by Nike sneakers, corduroy hats and windbreakers from the '80s and '90s.
We at Lapstone & Hammer were truly inspired by Wotherspoon's design and Nike's flawless execution of this imaginative concept. Thankful that we were blessed with the opportunity from Nike to carry this model and excited to share this special release with the city of Philadelphia, we curated a special in-store experience to commemorate this moment.
On Monday, 3.26.18 we hosted several hundred Air Max Enthusiasts for what was surely Philadelphia's premier Air Max Day event. The festivities featured a custom Air Max Day window display built by our amazing design team, in-store raffles, special surprises, music, refreshments and custom made decorative deserts.
We want to thank all of our customers, both local and online, for the tremendous support during this special release. We appreciate all of you and were happy to celebrate Air Max Day with so many of you at the shop.
We also want to congratulate Sean Wotherspoon on doing such a phenomenal job with this opportunity. As we are a team of product enthusiasts turned premier retailers, we can in a unique way appreciate what a special moment this was. We were very excited to create our own experience surrounding this release to share the moment with our city of Philadelphia.
