The season of giving is here once again, and Lapstone & Hammer is doing something a little different this year. We usually host a toy and clothing drive as part of our Lapstone Initiative, but this year we decided to team up with Mike Morak and Marcus Morris to support a holiday giveback benefitting over 300 kids of the Shane Victorino Nicetown Boys and Girls Club.
Instead of relying on our customers to contribute clothes or toys as part of a "harness the hype" product activation, we wanted to take the initiative ourselves to help directly contribute to putting smiles on the faces of some local kids in our city. To do that we partnered with Mike Morak's Victory In Philly, providing Jordan brand apparel so the kids could put together complete outfits consisting of hoodies, tees, sweatpants and shorts. Victory In Philly is an organization dedicated to supporting the youth in neighborhoods throughout the city by teaching life skills, teamwork and the power of a united goal for the greater good - all filtered through the lens of the game of basketball.
This is the second year in a row that Mike has hosted this annual event at the Nicetown Boys & Girls Club, with Marcus and Markieff Morris' Family Over Everything Foundation headlining the amazing roster of participants. With Marcus returning to play for his hometown team, it was a perfect fit to have his foundation play a major role in this event along with other great sponsors like the Danny Rumpf Foundation, Allergic To Failure, Better Call Prince, CEO, Motion Fliteways and Aline Athletics.
The event featured toys, books, apparel and sports equipment generously donated by the sponsors, catered food for 300 kids from Boomer's Kitchen, a souvenir photo experience from Immortal Vision, games, a live DJ and an appearance from artist Tierra Whack. But most importantly, it was truly amazing to see all of these kids with smiles on their faces and hearts full of holiday joy.
