The 1990s were the golden years for Nike, a decade that the brand keeps going back to again and again for reissues, reworks and collaborations. For the brand's upcoming Olivia Kim x Nike collection, the Nordstrom VP of Creative Projects taps into her teenage years to evoke the fun, playful and creative culture of '90s Manhattan with a vibrant capsule of footwear, apparel and accessories.
While the apparel and accessories are great, the star of this capsule is the "No Cover" sneaker pack that features five of Kim's favorite silhouettes that she has redesigned in a mishmash of hip hop, rave and DIY styles that served as her inspiration for the entire project. The most hyped of the silhouettes is undoubtedly the Air Jordan 4 covered in luxurious black pony hair, made even more special with the inclusion of Nike Air branding on the heel. That's not to say the other styles aren't lit as well... believe me, they are. There is a blue corduroy Air Force 1 Low with a yellow snakeskin swoosh, a rainbow colored Air Max 98 representing rave culture, a pink and zebra-striped Footscape NX that is a nod to the punk scene and a rugged Air Mowabb that is street ready with speckles, polka dots and a splash of teal.
The Olivia Kim x Nike Collection will be available on Friday, November 8th @10:00am both in-store and online.
