2019 is the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 4's release and Jordan Brand is celebrating this milestone by bringing back one of the model's most iconic colorways, the Air Jordan 4 Retro "Bred". Originally released in 1989 and sometimes referred to as "Black Cement", this colorway is probably best known for being on MJ's feet when he nailed "The Shot" over Craig Ehlo and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 playoffs. Though retro'd numerous times since, it returns here with OG Nike Air branding on the heel for the first time since 1999, and nearly 30 years to day of that iconic game winning shot.
The "Bred" comes dressed in premium black nubuck with tonal laces wings, laces and netting. Fire Red accents the tongue lining and outsole, as well as the OG Jumpman "Flight" tongue tag that debuted on the AJ 4. Cement Grey hits the lining, lace brackets, sole unit and OG Nike Air branding on the heel. The shoe is finished off with the signature Max Air heel unit, and comes with the OG hangtag and packaged in its original shoebox for the first time since 1989.
The Air Jordan 4 Retro "Bred" will release on Saturday, May 4th @ 10:00am both in-store and online at lapstoneandhammer.com.
